The Columbus Black Theatre Festival is happy to bring back their Teen/Youth Theatre Workshop this year. Our theme for this workshop is Our Narratives on Stage, which ties in with the overall theme of the festival this year which is Still Standing Strong: Voices of Triumph. We have 15 open slots for youth/teens aged 13 to 21+ years old. They will learn the basics of storytelling, write a monologue and then perform it in front of their family and friends.
This eight-week theatre workshop, Our Narratives on Stage, was developed by our founder and artistic director/teacher, Julie Whitney Scott. Julie will teach our young artists the tools needed to write a monologue during the first three sessions. The artists will then learn how to bring their monologue to life through acting techniques.
We are excited that this year the young artists will perform their monologues at the Columbus Arts Festival Genoa Park stage on June 13th and the Columbus Black Theatre Festival July 2nd, 3rd and 5that the Columbus Performing Arts Center Van Fleet Theatre.
All participants will be acknowledged at the festival and will receive two comp tickets for the CBTF so that they and a guardian (if needed) can also attend the theatre festival. The Columbus Arts Festival event is free to the public.
This is a free workshop, but registration is needed to reserve your spot as space is limited. If this sounds like something you or your youth might want to participate in this summer sign-up below and more information will be sent to you.
We are proud to announce the playwrights/plays selected for our 14th Annual Columbus Black Theatre Festival coming this July 2nd, 3rd and 5th in downtown Columbus, OH at the Columbus Performing Arts Center Van Fleet Theatre.
